Ray had a very nice time at our expense. If all this doesn't go somewhere, then some serious questions need to be directed to the Department of Local Government, the Corruption and Crime Commission, Police and Parliament. A line certainly does need to be drawn, a line to define what is criminal and what is not. The same line can also define what is ethically acceptable and what is not. Senior public sector workers know the parameters, it's ludicrous to think otherwise. Ray Hooper was tacitly given approval to spend municipal funds on wining and dining, tacit approval from who? Hooper Boyle Lawrence Scott Smythe Duperouzel Walters Fisher Randall Every single one of them needs to be held accountable, there is no excuse which could exonerate them.
I absolutely agree with you Anonymous. The Councillors allowed this to happen. Pat Hooper you should resign immediately.Don't you dare come back after suspension! Cr Smythe please tell us where and when you complained about this and/or where and when this information was withheld from you?
I'm not doubting you for one minute Bill, however, I am seriously doubting the word of the CEO. I simply do not believe the Police would have said they were not interested in an alleged report of a crime/fraud. That is the Police core role for heavens sake. The CEO has to provide the documentation from the Police backing up his claim. All reported crime is allocated an Incident Number which would be in the system. The Police have a duty of care to investigate reports made. Something is not right here - again!
More digging to do - anyone got a front end loader with a big bucket we can borrow?
I would Bill, IF I could find the actual wording where the CEO stated he "took it to the police and they weren't interested." so I can quote it. I clicked on the link you provided above, however, I could not find the actual statement quoted. Unfortunately I am not flush with time, so if you could give me some help instead of just a suggestion it would be good.
Thank you for your email. Please clarify if the annexures were actually forwarded to the Police Department and the Crime and Corruption Commission. Were the annexures accepted and registered as inwards correspondence and was proof of receipt furnished. What response was given to you (council) by the said bodies regarding the Response.
Kind regards

Dear Mr Saint,
The Police Department and the CCC were not interested in the reports. The Police insist that the first point of call has to be the CCC and the CCC clearly advised that most of the matters had already been investigated and that it is my personal and professional duty at law to refer specific matters to it if I had formed the opinion that there has been a breach of law committed.
Back to the title of this topic: TODAY (25th February 2015) THE PEASANTS DID REVOLT! A thousand cheers from me! Congratulations to the vast majority vote for not accepting The Reports without good reason to, and to Cr. Reid and other wise people for having the courage of their convictions and not holding back. The shock-and-awe value of today's meeting is so telling it must have made its mark. If not, then there is "none so deaf as those that will not hear; none so blind as those that will not see".
Well, you have spoken and the numbers have been seen. Now its up to those who have ignored the voices of democracy to actually comprehend what they have heard and seen.
What is happening with the investigation of financial issues in York, has anyone asked the Commissioner? If Mr Best, the DLGC, the CCC and the Police do not intend to do anything, has anyone considered getting the ATO involved due to alleged Fringe Benefit Tax and other taxation issues?
How about you ask the commissioner and you call the ATO onlooker? It's the same old people doing all the work. Then you can change your screen name to "doing something."
Tolduso, I am what I say, an Onlooker. I am not a York resident or ratepayers and I do not have any sense of entitlement. I am concerned about your issues in York and merely offer advice that may not have been considered. As far as changing my name to 'doing something', I thought I was. I find your comment discourteous and a possible reason why others may not post on this blog if they meet with such aggression. A sad truth but you do not know who is offering you help or where it is coming from so please, think before you react.
I believe care needs to be taken with how we respond to people on the Blog. Many from areas outside York are reading and contributing to this Blog and they may offer suggestions we have not thought of, lets not deter them if we can help it.
That's fair enough and I offer my apologies for the discourtesy onlooker. My frustration is directed at local onlookers who have apathy. Apathy is what allowed them to get away with it all in the first place and I have no patience for apathy any longer. I will action the ATO suggestion myself as my penance.
I know how you feel TOLDUSO, I too have been frustrated with the apathy over the years.
For ten years a very small band of us were getting our heads kicked in and our lives destroyed, while the bulk of York sat on the side lines. Some laughed, some joined the perpetrators, most did nothing. More and more people in York are now realising those 'trouble makers' were not treated fairly. . Thankfully, the winds have changed, we have this wonderful Blog site. The truth is being exposed for all to read. Hang in there TOLDUSO and remember you have support from the other 'trouble makers'
I too am a mere onlooker from outside York, but deeply offended at how the community has been treated by all the responsible government bodies. Firstly by your own previous council and CEO, and by the regulatory bodies whose duty is to oversee these councils to make sure they are performing properly, but to then trump up charges against the reforming council and suspend it based on nothing is beyond belief. What they are doing to York they can do anywhere and that is why the York community fight is so important. This blog is widely read around the State and its fame is spreading with the exposes that are coming through. But we are not there and can only support the cause. We are all charlies

DeleteAbsolute bloody disgrace.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we just get Commissioner Best to refer all the information to the fraud squad via local police?
ReplyDeleteAs previously posted the current Ceo says he "took it to the police and they weren't interested."
ReplyDeleteWhere is the letter from the Police stating they are not interested?

DeleteNo letter only the CEO's word on it (written word). If you have reported a crime to the police they must act. Full stop!

Wonder if the York Police are reading this Blog.
avon 75 why don't you go and ask the police and CEO?
