It often astonishes people how some choose to ignore
the past and refuse to recall the slings and arrows of outraged ratepayers.Some may even suggest that someone has been standing too close to the chip fryer without the exhaust fan on, absorbing litres of vaporized cooking oil up the nostrils, to ill effect.
Yet-everyone deserves the chance to turn abject failure into, maybe, just simple failure.
Trevor Randell is standing for Council again and it is up to the voters to pick and choose, based on how long their memories are.
This election has no chance of being perceived as- or actually being tainted. The extreme Conflict of Interest when the Returning Officer was, Ray Hooper, lovingly collating the votes for the elected Councillors who were his adoring fans and future, euphemistic employer, is no more.
This one will be kosha Trevor!
I am sure Trevor understands that, if elected, the three stooges will not be with him in the Council Chambers, so he will have to be far more circumspect in what he says and does.
I am sure he realizes that this time his fellow councillors will be a quorum of highly intelligent professional people with the best interest of the community at heart, not driven by manic self-interest, enforced with abusive behaviour.
There should be a number of high profile women as his colleagues, who the instant he calls them “mad” could have him thrown out of Chambers with the door still closed, metaphorically speaking.
Trevor’s every community Twitter, Facebook entry and public or private statement will definitely be
Trevor’s affiliations and allegiances are of community concern. He will not become the mouthpiece for disgruntled former councillors, trying to foist their private agendas on council or trying to settle old scores. This will not be tolerated and constant Conflict of Interest surveillance will ensure he’s nobody’s mule.
If there are enough friends, relatives and supporters at the end of Trevor’s rainbow, then he will be elected.
Then he is going to have to be a Councillor who is open, accountable, treating the community with dignity and respect, encouraging community participation in the decision making process while acting with honesty, integrity and impartiality like every other elected member-Capiche?

DeleteProbably for the same reason Trevor uploaded his piccies to social media in the first place, to broadcast them to the world and its Mother, and of course his own. Count yourself lucky they're not the XXX holiday snaps, or unlucky, whichever side of the fence you're on.
Many moons ago, when Trev was a Shire of York Councillor, he and his mentor Pat, used social media as a means to bully and intimidate members of the public, as and when the mood took them and depending on how much municipally funded grog they'd consumed.
It was only a couple of weeks ago, big Trev launched a vicious attack, via Facebook, on an elderly lady because she announced she would stand for Council. Perhaps next time, Trev and friend should consider switching their phones off before smoking Moroccan Marlboro's?
What's good for the goose.....and all that.

DeleteThe rest of us don't splash photos of ourselves ravishing the loves of our lives on social media, regardless of sexual orientation. Why should Trevor? Its like saying 'Up y...r's!' to the community he wants to represent as a dignity. Well, if he can't behave with the dignity that the rest of our gay couples in York do, then he is not worthy of pretending to be a dignity of the town.
DeleteTrevor did nothing for us last time he was on Council. He was a quiet mouse and fence-sitter, is my perception. (That is, apart from, like his 'mentor', suggesting that a certain female Councillor had Alzheimers when, if anything, she is very sharp in her thinking indeed. The only memory deficit she had was not knowing information which had deliberately been withheld from her by the males of the species on Council.)

ReplyDeleteHe used social media in a way no Councillor (well.... those with any dignity) would ever consider using and so did Pat Hooper. Both Pat and Trevor should have been put before the Standards Panel for how they behaved. They thought their reign of terror would go on forever. Bullies are always cowards!
Trevor your use by date as a councillor expired some time ago and if you have any self respect left, I suggest you withdraw your nomination.
Just read the candidate profiles and couldn't help but smile when I learnt that Trevor organised the York sausage festival.

ReplyDeleteI won't be going for coffee at the Mill while he is there and I won't be voting for him.
We had to put up with bad behaviour, rudeness and lack of decorum from Councillors for way too long (prior to Matthew Reid and Dave Wallace).
I am only voting for those I personally know this time because I've believed what candidates have said (promised) before the elections, voted for them and then found they were liars.
I notice how none of the positive comments or comments of those that support Trevor are being posted this really begs the question who is running this blog or more importantly who is paying to keep this media biased .... lets face it we all know exactly who the one trouble maker is that hides behind his puppets the shire of York is being played ... but then again this post wont make it onto the page .... so I have taken a screen shot ... and will be sending it to the minister of local government in australia just as I have with my other four posts ..... im ashamed of just how backward Australia has gotten and I don't even live there ..... I used to miss York until this showed how backward, inbred and bigoted some individuals of this once beautiful paradise now are .... at least there are still a few not afraid to stand up amongst the muck rakers ..... good on ya Trev... as someone who has worked in Australian television and still has plenty of contacts .... is this post doesn't make it on here ill see it plastered all over national telly .... you have been warned

I bet the blogmaster is terrified now that you have sent screen shots to Minister Simpson, you would do better sending them to your Minister, the Minister of cloud cuckoo land. Why don't you just make some little effigies (dolls), then stick pins in them while dancing round a fire naked with your Mother, you'll get more joy.
Caution, the unpublished negative comments regarding Mr Randell outweigh the positive comments twentyfold.

ReplyDeleteI certainly do not share your obvious like for Randell, but I applaud you for having the guts to speak up, maybe you should have considered standing for Council. Randell is not a nasty person but he did allow himself to be dictated to by a particularly malevolent group of men, it was exactly the same scenario for Duperouzel.

What right do any of you people have subjecting Trevor like this, you are all quick to list the negatives, but think about the positives that he has accomplished for this town.

Don't say that being a Councillor was a positive as he turned out to be totally ineffective. As for the photo's, if they were shared with only friends and family, he should be looking very closely at his so called friends, not really the actions of a friend to send them to a blog is it?
DeleteIt is amazing how the strength of one man can belittled by the masses. What is one suppose to do when everywhere he turned there was a wall? Remembering it was an entire council, not just one man.

I think your more concerned about what Trevor posts on social media and belittling him is more important to you. You are right though, Trevor needs to take a look at who his true friends are and it is clear to see.

DeleteWhat "walls" are you refer to? Fellow Councillors, administration, the public, Trevor did have a voice but never chose to use it, instead he was subservient to his peers, the headmaster pupil relationship if you like.
Trevor should have never nominated for Council this time round, what do you suppose it will be like for him should he be elected?
Incidentally, I'm not homophobic, but at the same time, I don't want his sexuality shoved down my throat (no 'pun' intended).
How can this town call itself close nit when an individual is born and raised here, who also chooses to stay here and help improve this town, you are all nothing but red neck in-breads who should be ashamed of themselves! this is a man who is a friend, colleague, brother, son, uncle and father, I really hope that his family cannot see the derogatory that he is being treated. He was not the only one on the last council that failed this town so why not suck up your distaste and give him a fair go. These photos are taken out of context and if it bothers you so much why are you intent on looking at them, I feel sorry for the future of this town if cannot bring itself to the twenty first century because it is scared of change.

ReplyDeleteThose photo's, it's people like you/town that would see photos like that and view them in a provocative way and that be your only focus, instead of seeing a couple taking silly photos. Because that is what they are, a loving couple, sorry if that horrifies you but quite frankly it's not you concern. Why can't you focus more about what Trevor stands for about the town then on some silly photos that you seem so fixed on.
Interesting choice of word, "provocative", seems you may have worked out the problem with the photos. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the first photo appears to be Trevor about to engage in fellatio while stoned out of his head, in the second, Trevor is removing ear wax from his partners ear with his tongue. It is my concern and the concern of many others that Trevor should post near pornographic pictures of himself and partner on social media. I don't care what century it is, that is not the behaviour I wish to see from a prospective candidate for the forthcoming election.
