Shire of York

Shire of York

   DEAR YORK BLOGGERS

To all you Bloggophiles out there, both contributors and avid readers. One of the more interesting future conundrums is whether the much maligned Shire Of York President, Matthew Reid, decides to totally reject his character assassination in the Shire of York Show Cause Notice and come out legally swinging with an affidavit upper-cut and a attestation left-hook or two- or not.
Please remember Minister Simpleton has ‘Might’ on his side- your tax money. Mr Reid may have ‘Right’ on his side, but he has to use his own money to prove it.

I am not being facetious when I say it has been a pleasure to read the thoughts of the real people of York. Whether part of the massive Anonymous Family or a Nome De Plume.

There are plenty more of those to be used including Dan Gerous, Tom Orrow,  Con Flicted, Des Perado, Stu Pendous, plus one for the ladies-Dee Bacle. And a host of others, only limited by one’s imagination. Or you can just use your real name. It won’t hurt a bit.

One issue I have a personal problem with is why anyone should be afraid of Tony Boyle or Pat and Ray Hooper.

Tony
Boyle is a farmer, (I cannot recall a sheep named either Hannibal or Einstein) an unsuccessful Halal abattoir entrepreneur and a once, habitual board of director’s member. I am led to believe, because of the recent adverse publicity he has received, his board of directorship sitting is no longer a major feature of his lifestyle.

Pat
Hooper was an innocuous schoolteacher in Kalgoorlie at around the same time as Ray Hooper was causing trouble as a Local Government Official in the same town. Mr Hooper, or Sir as he was once called, rose to become a Principle of a small Junior High School. Despite enquiries, it appears he was never offered a top echelon position in any Senior High School, whether rural, regional, remote or metropolitan. (But he probably still loves being called Sir.)

Ray
Hooper rose from being a grader driver (an honourable, hardworking position) to become the destroyer of several towns’ economies and their community spirit. A real doyen of the dystopian,
who turned the Shire of York Offices into his own Qantas Club Departure Lounge. But he is hardly frightening!

These three men should not be judged with fear and trepidation, but righteous indignation.
In combination they have overseen a decade long debacle in York, both commercial and social. Hotels and restaurants have gone, tourism events and tourists have left for healthier climes, while local rates have skyrocketed. If you think you have had enough and try and sell your home to leave- you will be lucky to get any real Real-Estate interest, let alone an offer near a bank valuation or even replacement value. But if you hurry, you may get a $50,000 pensioner discount at Balladong Retirement Village
So- when you see Tony, Pat or, heaven forbid, Ray in Avon Terrace say “Gooday” and “Thanks for nothing”! Otherwise you can probably catch Ray at Paddy Malone’s in Alexander Heights. Hopefully using his own personal credit card, paid for by him.

David Taylor- York Ratepayer.

Oh David, bless you, you have made my day. I was feeling rather glum and at two minds whether to read the blog. Now I have the biggest smile on my face.
I believe someone may previously mentioned to you, please please nominate for Council at the next election. IF you do, I reckon Tony and Pat won't.

Thanks for the tip of the watering hole (soak??). I will make absolutely sure I give Paddy Malone's in Alexander Heights a bloody big miss for fear Ray might just hit me up for a free drink being as he doesn't have 'the free credit card' now. Bit down on his luck I believe.

  2. I agree with you, David. In the immortal words of President F D Roosevelt, we have nothing to fear but fear itself.

On principle, I have not concealed my identity as a contributor to this blog. But I'm tempted now to sign off as 'Gnome de Plume'.

  3. I for one am not intimidated by these men. Their bullying tactics just strengthened my resolve.

I cannot ever remember one of them ever admitting they made a mistake, or conceded they could have been misinformed. Everyone makes mistakes but not everyone goes to the lengths these men and the DLG did to prove they were right even when they knew they got it wrong.

I only hope Matthew and the other Councillors don't give up. Many of us have fought these men at great personal and financial cost and we have been doing it for a lot longer than Matthew.

The culture in the SOY and DLG is to wear people down. If Matthew, Denise and David give up they win.

  4. I refer to the letter to the Magistrate recently posted under "Citizen Shame" where the CEO makes the following comment. "It is the opinion of the Shire of York that a primary mitigating factor in this offence is the opportunity created by poor financial management processes and operations of the York Visitor Centre and while it does not condone the taking of funds from the employer it does acknowledge that people sometimes cannot ignore the opportunity and this builds on Itself."

It sounds like he is talking about himself when you read about his credit card acts of theft. Perhaps the poor thing was enticed just like poor Katrina Watts because the SOY council was not monitoring his credit card expenditure.

It is noteworthy the Visitor Centre was accredited and the Manager reported the lack of minutes, agendas, financial reports etc on many occasions-all well documented.

It is also noteworthy that while he says "It is the opinion of the Shire of York," when asked at a council meeting the Councillors suggested they knew nothing about the letters being sent-even though Cr Roy Scott wrote a similar one.

Once the documents were obtained under "FOI" which happened only the 45th day (last day available,) the Councillors were asked again at Public questions time. Councillor Tony Boyle slammed down the gavel and closed question time after only 2.5 minutes (15 mins is the legal requirement.)

A complaint the the DLG was ignored as usual.

    Tut Tut!

  5. I remember the meeting well, I remember watching Roy Scott (Retired Police Inspector, remember that bit), squirm at the question and your right 'Big Tone' slammed down his gavel. It is so obvious now what was going on at the time and still going on! Big Tone and Katie's dad are bosom buddies, cronyism comes to mind.
Ray Hooper wouldn't think twice about taking someone to court over the most trivial matter, he didn't right any letter in their defense, did he, but when his mates daughter was pinged, different story! He did his utmost to soften her sentence. Ray Hooper had no right to write a letter to the court on Shire of York headed paper, he certainly WAS NOT speaking on behalf of the ratepayers of York, they would have been happy to see the b---h locked up for a lot longer, she got off lightly.
People also forget that Graham Stanley, the Deputy CEO at the time was the treasurer for the York Tourist Bureau, why didn't he notice the $1000's were disappearing?
In Ray's immortal words; " this offence is the opportunity created by poor financial management processes and operations of the York Visitor Centre and while it does not condone the taking of funds from the employer it does acknowledge that people sometimes cannot ignore the opportunity and this builds on Itself".
    What a dickhead

  6. I always reckoned Tony Boyle was out of his depth as a councillor let alone the position of Shire President. (So was Pat Hooper for that matter.)
It was clear neither knew the rules about public question time (or anything else for that matter) . Why didn't the DLG jump in then and serve him with a show cause notice?

The other thing I have never liked about Tony Boyle is he lies. He should have stuck to Sheep and wheat.

How dare Ray Hooper write that letter on a Shire of York letter head. Who the hell did he think he was? Arrogant little S#@T! He sure as hell did not write on my behalf either.

I am not so sure it was appropriate (certainly not smart) for an Ex cop to support a previously convicted criminal that is again in court on further fraud/theft charges. I can only imagine what the Magistrate thought.
Did Hooper and Scott attended the court hearing as well? If we get the credit card statements, we may be able to marry up charges for lunch (Hooper, Scott and Wattsie) parking, petrol etc.. With the stress of the court case, did it by any chance involve an over night stay (debrief?) as well?
